The McNutt House was built in 1826 and is the second oldest antebellum home in Vicksburg's Historic Downtown District. It was acquired by Governor Alexander Gallatin McNutt (Mississippi's 12th Governor) in 1829 who subsequently added the rear wing in 1832. McNutt is best remembered for his staunch, but unsuccessful battles to regulate banking as well as for having signed into legislation the right of women to own property in Mississippi. Over the centuries the property has had many owners to include the Vick family, for which the city is named. The main floor contains coal burning fireplaces with original cast iron mantles and now serves host to business meetings and special occasion events. McNutt's living quarters, his personal office and guest bedroom now accommodate our guests as Suites with full kitchens and private bath. See the Suites page for additional details.

The Magill House is situated at the base of the courtyard and named in honor of Lt. David Weeks Magill, a wealthy 21 year old Louisiana plantation owner and Confederate Artilery Officer who perished on June 4, 1863 during the Siege of Vicksburg. He is the only known Confederate soldier with a marked grave outside of the Confederate Cemetary in Vicksburg. A front porch spans the length of the building facing a large patio and lovely courtyard. The house contains a Guest Room and two efficiency Suites with kitchenettes, each with private bath. A common area at the center of the building is available for our guests use containing a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher plus an adjoining complimentary laundry room. Our Laughlin St. property offers two fully furnished and very well equipped two-bedroom apartments ideal for extended stays. This property is situated in a quiet and established neighborhood across town just 5 minutes from shopping areas and within 15 minutes for most in-town destinations to include the US Army Corps of Engineers Research and Development Center – ERDC, the Vicksburg District, physical therapy facilities and the Military National Park to name a few businesses our past guests have been affiliated with. Each apartment includes all customary large and small appliances, dishwasher, HD cable, premium movie channels, wireless internet and a in-unit washer and dryer. The main house can accommodate business meetings, theme and holiday parties, weddings and small sit down banquets and rehearsal dinners. Maggie's Hall accomodates larger events to include business meeting, parties and receiptions. The Courtyard is the property's centerpiece featuring one of the areas oldest Japanese Magnolia trees, a Crape Myrtle tree believed to predate the Civil War, decks. patios and lovely terraced gardens. A perfect setting for an intimate garden wedding, large social event, family or class reunion, retreat or picnic. We impose minimal restrictions on caterers and vendors used.
