The McNutt House is an Apart-hotel featuring room amenities superior to most local hotels designed to provide old world charm blended with modern conveniences. The main house offers 3 multi-room Suites with kitchens containing electric range, refrigerator, microwave oven and a variety of small appliances. Efficiency suites in the Magill House include kitchenettes with refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave oven and large toaster over adequate for preparing meals. Each includes dishes, cookware and customary amenities found at hotels including hairdryer, soap, shampoo, iron and ironing board.

Guests receive complimentary guided tour of the facility, HDTV, Starz premium movie package and wireless internet in addition to use of laundry facilities, courtyard, picnic area and BBQ grills. Out of curtousy to our current and future guests, all rooms are non-smoking. Smoking is permitted on the balcony, porches and grounds. Short term rates include weekly housekeeping.

The McNutt House

The McNutt House, located on the History Walking Tour in the Historic Downtown District, is just minutes from the National Military Park, Old Courthouse Museum, casinos, riverfront, eateries, evening entertainment and frequent downtown events. The house was built in 1826 and acquired by Governor McNutt in 1830 who subsequently added on the rear wing of the house in 1832. McNutt is best remembered for his staunch efforts to regulate banking and for having signed into legislation the right of women to own property in MS. The main floor rooms now serve host to special occasion events and business meetings. Portraits of Mr. and Mrs. McNutt hang over the coal burning fireplaces with their original ornate cast iron mantles. Other portions of the house include three 1-bedroom suites offering their own character and charm affording a unique and enjoyable stay.

The McNutt Suite - This largest 3-room suite once served as the Governor's 2nd floor living quarters. Hardwood floors, coal burning fireplaces, panoramic views of the courtyard and spectacular sunsets can be seen from the kitchen and living room. This suite includes an extremely comfortable hand crafted cherry king bed, dedicated central heat/air and private bath with tub and shower. The courtyard with large deck, gazebos and BBQ grills beckon your use. Rates: $85.00 per day and $1,600 per month for extended stay.

Bettie Suite - Named for Mrs. Elizabeth "Bettie" McNutt, this two room Suite is situated on the 2nd floor with a balcony entrance overlooking the courtyard and at eye level with the expanse of the area's oldest Japanese Magnolia tree. The bedroom is quite large featuring a very comfortable hand crafted queen bed, original hard pine floors, ample dresser drawer space and a coal burning fireplace. The Suite includes a kitchen, private bath with shower and dedicated central heat/air. Rates: $75.00 per day and $1,300 per month for extend stay. Short term rates include weekly house keeping.

Governor's Suite - Freshly remodeled - the first floor bedroom of this suite originally served as Gov. McNutt's private office with a Monroe Street entrance that also served as access to the staircase to the second floor until the 1980s. The bedroom area contains a luxuriously comfortable 4-poster queen bed imposing challenges to stay awake lying on it while watching a movie on the new flat panel HD TV. Tasteful art and the original cast iron fireplace mantle complete the decor. The Suite includes a small but very functional kitchen with electric range, refrigerator, coffee pot and microwave oven. The private bath includes a 2-head shower and a jacuzzi whirlpool tub. Rates: $70.00 per day and $1,200 per month for extend stay.

The Magill House

This structure was built in the mid 1900's and is named in honor of a Confederate soldier (Lt. D. W. Magill) mortally wounded during the Civil War Siege of Vicksburg and buried on site. The center room serves as a common area for guests with laundry room and a fully equipped kitchen for guests desiring to prepare elaborate meals.

Suite #4 - Is a one-room efficiency suite with kitchenette containing a refrigerator, microwave oven, large toaster over, coffee pot, dishes and table ware. The room is furnished with a very comfortable queen bed, pub table w/ bar stools and a relaxing chair perfect for watching your favorite HD programming. The bath contains all new fixtures, hair dryer and plenty of water pressure. A complimentary fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher is but steps away for guests desiring to prepare large or elaborate meals. Rates: $55.00 per day and $1,050 per month for extended stay.

Suite #3 - Like Suite #4, this is a one-room efficiency suite with kitchenette containing a refrigerator, microwave oven, large toaster over, coffee pot, dishes and table ware. The layout of this room is different from suite 4 offering ample kitchenette counter top and cabinet space. A comfortable queen bed and relaxing chair are perfect for watching your favorite HD programming. The bath contains a shower, hair dryer and plenty of water pressure. A complimentary fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher is next door for guests desiring to prepare large or elaborate meals. Rates: $55.00 per day and $1,050 per month for extended stay.

The Courtyard

A newly landscaped terraced courtyard sits center stage of the property. A large deck protects the region's oldest Japanese Magnolia trees and overlooks the garden, water features, and lower patio area. Gazebos, ample lawn furniture and charcoal grills awaiting use by our guests. Visit Lt. Magill's grave site and see a Union mortor on display in the lower courtyard.
